HP 1080p Screens on Pavilion Notebooks

| Friday, May 20, 2011 | 0 comments

HPs Pavilion dv6t and dv7t available with 1080p screens, those who bought three months ago sigh

HP is now offering a full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080 resolution) screen on select 15.6- & 17.3-inch Pavilion consumer notebooks. The Pavilion dv6t Select Edition & dv6t & dv7t Quad Editions are now available with the 1080p screen. Historicallyin the past, the dv6t models maxed out at a low 720p (1366 x 768) resolution & the dv7t at an equally less-than-impressive 900p (1600 x 900) resolution. The higher resolution of the 1080p screen means that more content can be seen on the screen at a time without excessive scrolling, as is necessary with 720p screens. The 1080p screen is a $150 upgrade over the base screen.

The lovely news, however, is that HP took these reviews and complaints to heart and announced that both these machines are available with 1080p displays at an additional $150 per machine.

As of the time of this writing, HP is also offering free upgrades to 6GB RAM and 750GB hard drives. It is unknown how long this offer will last.

As with the preliminary devices, the new replacements will come standard with 2GHz quad-core Core i7 processors, AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics with 1GB of video memory, 4GB of RAM and 640GB hard drives.
